Samuel Adams, MD

Board Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon

Dr. Samuel Adams is a board-certified Orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty training in spine surgery. He offers a variety of services and focuses on a patient-centered approach to care to keep patients healthy and active. He joined Pioneer Peak Orthopedics in 2019 following his fellowship at West Virginia University, where he learned about advanced spinal pathology and complex surgery. During his training, he was also received experience in robotic spine surgery and helped introduce robotic spine surgery to the Mat-Su Valley. Primary surgical interests involve decompression of cervical and lumbar degeneration or disc herniation, cervical motion preservation, cervical myelopathy, revision procedures, peripheral nerve decompression, and fusion. He is the recipient of multiple grants to further his interests in spine research and education, with particular interest in cervical myelopathy.

Charles Haggerty, MD

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr Haggerty is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder arthroscopy and total shoulders. He went to college at Johns Hopkins University, earned a Masters at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and then went to Loyola Medical School in Chicago. His orthopedic residency was in San Antonio, Texas with the U.S. Air Force. After finishing his training in 2008, he was assigned as the chief orthopedic physician at Osan Air Force Base, South Korea. Upon finishing this assignment in 2009, he was transferred to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he provided orthopedic care for veterans, cadets, and active duty military. During his time at the Air Force Academy he was a team physician for multiple collegiate teams, including Varsity Football and Hockey. Read more

Micheal Montano, MD

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Michael Montano is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. Fellowship trained in Sports Medicine, he specializes in the latest arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures for the shoulder, knee, and hip. As former team captain and starting pitcher of his NCAA Division I baseball team, Michael displays a seasoned and personable leadership style with a unique perspective on treating athletes. During his training, he assisted in the orthopedic care of the Boston Red Sox AAA affiliate team, as well as many of the surrounding collegiate and professional athletes in the Boston area. Dr. Montano also has a special interest in robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery. In fact, he is responsible for introducing the MAKO robotic technology to Alaska. Accordingly, he is the most experienced MAKO robotic assisted joint replacement surgeon in the state. Read more

Gregory Strohmeyer, MD​

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Gregory Strohmeyer is an orthopedic surgeon who was born and raised right here in Palmer, Alaska. He is the Matanuska Susitna Valley’s only specialty trained fracture surgeon. After graduating from Colony High School where he was a four-year varsity letter hockey player, Dr. Strohmeyer attended Montana State University where he studied biochemistry and graduated with high honors. He continued onto Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois for medical school. Dr. Strohmeyer completed his orthopedic residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he received a broad education in orthopedic surgery. Read more

Ksenia Sokolova, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Ksenia is a first-generation immigrant from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. She had extensive medical training there, which allowed her to pursue the healthcare career in USA. She graduated from Medex UW in 2017 with Bachelor’s degree in health care. Ksenia had a wonderful opportunity to work in neurosurgery with Anchorage Neurosurgical Associates in Anchorage for one year and later started with Pioneer Peak Orthopedics in 2018. She has an additional certification as PA in orthopedics from NCCPA.

She loves Alaska and outdoors, enjoying her time hiking, fishing, skiing and swimming. She is dedicated to Tang Soo Do martial arts, which she started in 2013 and just achieved her black belt in 2022.

Katelyn Stearns, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Katelyn was born and raised in Anchorage, AK. She received her BS in Biology at UPS in Tacoma. She worked in fisheries and as a wildland firefighter/EMT prior going into medicine. Katelyn worked as medical scribe in Neurosurgery for three years prior to PA school. She obtained her Master of Clinical Health Sciences from the University of Washington’s MEDEX PA program. She now lives in Anchorage with her husband and dog, Finley. Katelyn enjoys hiking, biking, running, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with family.
